A free little music player for your Mac

Music, popped.

Pick a genre. A hand-picked mix starts playing in about two seconds. Get back to work. That's it. That's the app.

Psst. Pick a genre!

Music in about two seconds

01 How it works

A three-step program. We counted.

  1. Pick a genre.

Thirty of them: Deep House, Jazz, Metal, Classical, even Talk… one click on the big glowing button. No playlists to build, no algorithm to train, no account to make.

  2. Music plays.

A random mix from a hand-picked list starts in about two seconds, from YouTube, SoundCloud, Mixcloud or internet radio. Just the audio. Not feeling it? Hit Next.

  3. Back to work.

ToastAmp waits quietly in your menu bar while you do the actual job. Open it tomorrow and it carries on where you left off.

02 Visualisers

Thirty-eight tiny shows. Every one of them listens.

The artwork dances to whatever's playing. Pick a favourite, or set it to Rotate and ToastAmp moves through them all, choosing scenes that suit the genre: a campfire for lo-fi, a tunnel for techno, a game of rally for drum & bass.

FX Add a finish

Rewind to 1987.

Lay an effect over any scene. VHS brings the rental-shop tape: colour bleed, scanlines, a tracking band and the deck's PLAY sign. Kaleidoscope folds the scene into twelve mirrored wedges and slowly turns it.

03 Skins
